We are always looking for volunteers for the association.  Do you have bookkeeping skills, artistic/creative skills, youth project skills, agriculture skills, building skills, teaching skills?  We would love to talk to you to see where you could fit in. Do you manage a youth group that needs more experience in volunteering or building or servicing here in the community? Maybe we could work with you!

Fall Fair takes a HUGE amount of volunteers to produce this fantastic community event.  Many positions available – many skills needed. Planning is now in the process, so whether you are brainy or brawny, and if your heart is in the right place….we would like to talk!  If you have a group of people that are looking for ‘volunteer service hours’ for the Powell River community… we can possibly help YOU out!   🙂

Fall Fair Volunteers:

Sunday, Sept 14, 3pm…Exhibit Hall setup (involves moving bleachers, room dividers, backdrops, moving and washing of tables)


Monday, Sept  15, 10am…Exhibit Hall setup (involves hanging lights, tablecloths, decor and signage)


Tuesday, Sept 16 …possibly the day for the Animal Barn, will add more info as it becomes available

Wednesday, September 17… Decorating day on site…. use your artistic skills with a crew of other volunteers to make the grounds into a wonderful atmospher for all to attend.


Thursday, Sept18 …Grounds (involves moving of bleachers, set up of fencing and Art tent, on site signage)


Friday, Sept 19 @ 9am…Grounds (vendors will start arriving for tent/table setup)


Friday, Sept  19, 12noon to 6pm…Exhibit Hall, Entry Desk (involves taking entries & running them to designated sections)


Friday, Sept 19, 5pm to 9pm…Exhibit Hall, Judges arrive (involves judging of flowers, jams, preserves, vegetables, baking, etc as per the Entry Book classes (in a previous post) and our website. All Judging is done following the BC Fairs and Exhibitions Judging Manual)


Saturday and Sunday, Sept 20th/21st @ 10am to 5pm…Traffic Controllers (involves a group of 6-8+ to direct traffic to parking areas outside the event)


Saturday and Sunday, Sept  20th/21st 10:30am to 5pm…Admission Gate Attendants (involves a group of 8 or more to manage our 4 gates)


Saturday and Sunday, Sept20th/21st  11am to 5pm… Washroom Attendants (requires 3+, involves setup and restocking of supplies, washroom and outhouse maintenance and replenishing water for the hand washing station)


Saturday and Sunday, Sept 22nd/23rd @ 11:30am to 4:30pm…Onsite, Senior and Handicap, parking attendants (requires 2, involves directing traffic to designated areas on the grounds)


Saturday and Sunday,  20th/21st 11:45am to 5pm…Exhibit Hall Monitors (involves 4, monitoring exhibits)


Saturday and Sunday, 20th/21st noon to 5pm…Children’s Activities (involves a group coordinating children’s activities) this is something new we’d like to add to the event but of course need to rely on the public’s help in order to pull it off


Monday,September 29,  10am to 5pm…cleanup of Grounds, Exhibit Hall, Animal Barn (involving trucks, wheelbarrows, shovels/brooms, and muscle)

Thanks to all the volunteers who have already signed up, and those that have helped thus far with Entertainment, Trophies, Ribbons, Publicity and Promotions, Info Booth, Raffle Ticket printing and sales, Shuttle Bus, Work Parties, Prizes, Signs, Sewing, Mail-in Entries, Security, Tablecloths, Facebook and our Website!
